About Charlie

I am a precious piece of work! I love to slam sliding glass doors, cabinet and cupboard doors, plus drawers in the kitchen, bedroom and at Mom’s computer desk. However, I love to hug and be hugged; I sleep well and get along just fine eating my gluten-free, casein-free and soy-free foods. I ride the bus to school in Santa Monica, and enjoy afternoons with my friends at Malibu Methodist Day Care until Mom or Dad picks me up. Dad takes me straight to the park so I can run and climb, to wear me out they say.

Speaking of running, one Sunday morning in August I figured out how to open the gate at our front door and ran out onto Pacific Coast Highway. A passerby saw me, stopped and scooped me up before I got hurt and delivered me back to my mom who had been frantically searching for me all over the apartment complex where we live. Oh man, did I scare the bejeezus out of her. I never want to feel her panic and see her expressions of terror and anguish again. That’s one reason she wants me to have a dog…to protect me from my impulsive actions.

My Dad has noticed that when he takes me to the park, I love to be in the presence of other kids, but I cannot quite figure out how to connect with them. Dad says that my dog will help me engage with my friends, and make new acquaintances.

Something that I hope my dog will do is to help me calm down when life gets chaotic. Because when I am hurt, or scared, or angry and cannot use words to tell anyone, it can be so frustrating! Mom and Dad say that my dog will give me unconditional love, and that he will understand me when no one else can. And I have an update… Looks like I will be getting a dog soon!!
